After her recovery, a very sick pup returned to where she was rescued. In Texas, an animal lover named Abigail found a sick stray dog under her car. She and her companion gave her food and water. Despite being weak and emaciated, the dog gobbled up the food hungrily.
After she had her fill, the sick puppy came out voluntarily even though she was very scared. They were able to put a leash on her quite easily. The rescuers gave her the name Ellie.
Ellie became unresponsive at the beginning of her healing
They thought she had parvo because of her bloody stool, so they rushed her to the animal clinic. Fortunately, it was not parvo. The vet told them that she had been eating garbage, so she suffered from sepsis and gastrointestinal tract infection.
Abigail brought Ellie home to nurse her until she regained her health. During her first two days with Abigail, she was unresponsive and too weak to do anything else. The next days were spent giving her medicated baths, topical ointments, dewormer, and antibiotics.
The vet put her on a special diet. At first, she was rejecting healthy food because she had been used to eating rotten food. In time, her appetite and her health began to improve.
With love and tender loving care Ellie returned to where she was rescued
When Ellie realized that they were not going to hurt her, she started to trust them and became more friendly. She was very lively when they took her out for a walk. She was so excited to play with the tennis ball. Soon, the Golden Retriever mix was comfortable enough to show her sweet and playful temperament.
She loved going on car rides. They brought her to the beach to celebrate her recovery, and she was ecstatic. It was her first time seeing the ocean, and she started digging and running around as soon as her paws touched the sand.
Ellie was one of the reasons why Abigail started a nonprofit organization called Artemis Animal Rescue in South Texas. She did not put her up for adoption. Instead, Ellie became a permanent resident at the center and helps her care for the rescued animals.
Here is another story of a dog with a great attitude.
