What a heart-warming story of how a sweet dog dumped in the trash by a family evicted from their home was rescued in time to spend Christmas in a nice, warm foster home. A nonprofit organization saved the abandoned dog left by his previous owners and he was saved just in time for Christmas Day.
Concerned citizens spotted the said Pit Bull mix wandering around their neighborhood, shivering in the cold weather. Terri Looby, a Detroit Animal Welfare Group (DAWG) volunteer, got the report and immediately searched for the dog.
Terri drove around town to find the reported dog. She could not seem to find him until she spotted a pile of stuff to be picked up by the garbage truck. The said trash seemed like it came from a family that moved out from a nearby house. Among the boxes and the other garbage, she saw a dog curled up tightly on a chair.
How The Rescue of the Dog Dumped in the Trash Went Down
Terri carefully approached the large Pit Bull mix and called him to her. The poor fellow wagged his tail, obviously happy that someone took notice of him. Terri opened her car door and ushered the dog in. The volunteer then noticed that the poor dog walked with a limp. Even though the dog was cold and hurt, he was enthusiastic about the help. Terri decided to name him Ollie-Loo.
According to some neighbors, Oliie-Loo’s owners were evicted from their residence and left the poor pup along with their other stuff. Terri sympathized with the dog, who was perfectly behaved inside the car on their way to the shelter. Even when Terri took out the chicken patty she brought, Ollie -Loo waited for her to tell him that he could have it.
Detroit Animal Welfare Group took Ollie-Loo under their wing and accompanied him to the animal hospital for a check-up. There, they found out that he had a broken femur and that he tested positive for heartworm. Ollie-Loo was also underweight and extremely dehydrated.
After undergoing treatment and medication, the Detroit Animal Welfare Group arranged a foster home for Ollie-Loo. Terri is just happy that she found him before Christmas. At least, while the grateful dog waits for a family that will adopt him, he is in the care of a loving and kind family where he would spend Christmas with.
