Bill and his wife were on their way home from Missouri where they had been on a fishing trip. If they had not made a bathroom stop, the dog would never have jumped into their car. They would never have met her at all.
They gave her every chance to get out of the car but she had no intention of doing so. Eventually, they made an effort to pet her and she seemed to enjoy the attention.
The couple was returning from a fishing trip in the state of Missouri. They decided to make a stop and that’s when the dog appeared ouy of nowhere and hopped right into their backseat.

The Vet Checks Out The Hitchhiker
The dog was bathed and examined at the vet clinic. They informed the couple that the dog’s body revealed signs of being homeless. There were indications of a struggle of some sort as well as wounds caused by infections and ticks. Thankfully, there was no sign of more serious illnesses.
Bill and his wife quickly became attached to their unexpected hitchhiker. They made up their minds to provide all the support she needed to fully regain her health. To do this, they needed to take her home with them. They named her River.
River rapidly adapted to them and to their home. Apparently, she made up her mind to adopt them. In no time, River was romping playfully around their yard as though she already belonged there. Now, she is enjoying the good life with her very own family.
