Celebrate Happy National Pet Day All Year Long!

Celebrate Happy National Pet Day All Year Long!

Susan Sloan April 11, 2019

Happy National Pet Day! How are you and your pet elebrating? In 2005 Collen Paige Founded the  National Pet Day.  I am an animal lover in general (dogs and horses, most specifically), so this day is dedicated to all animals. Yes, this includes snakes, spiders, and lizards, too. How do you plan on celebrating? Here are a few ideas for you to consider

Spend part of your day taking photos (or selecting photos from an album) of your pet and sharing them on your favorite social media platform. If you need tips of taking photos of your pet, go here. https://happymutt.org/terrific-tips-for-taking-photos-of-your-pup/

There are some great YouTube videos of almost any kind of animal you can imagine. Our four-year-old twin grandsons and their 5 year old cousin are particularly fond of snakes, Honey Badgers, and Sharks right now.

Helping the Less Fortunate Ones

Volunteer a few hours at your local animal shelter. Or, you can spend some time loving on the lonely. How about walking and playing with those needing exercise,? You can always groom the pups with tangle coats or clean their cages.

Purchase some dog food or a toy for the pet of an elderly or financially strapped neighbor. You can always donate any number of needed supplies to a no-kill shelter. Volunteer to walk the dog for an elderly or infirm neighbor, especially in bad weather.

Adopt a dog from the shelter or a pure breed rescue shelter. Be sure to have the dog neutered if this has not already been done.

Donate food, toys, blankets or money for neutering animals at a shelter in honor of National Pet Day.

Whatever you do to celebrate the pet in your life, share it with other animal lovers. We are all made better by having pets in our lives. Let’s give them a little recognition for all they do for us.

Happy National Pet Day!
