With the advent of social media and the growing number of dog websites to enjoy, hardly a day goes by that we do not see several posts about dogs. Now, a 10-year-old kid loves to pet dogs and has become a Twitter Influencer!
Social media has been a useful tool to share experiences and photos. In today’s political climate, it is also used to discuss politics and social issues as well. With today’s generation, the use of social media to share information and exchange ideas has reached an all-time high.
And rightly so, each successful post that “goes viral” gives other people encouragement to try to do the same. This 10-year-old kid is no different from any of the other posters on social media, other than his age. He experimented with using Twitter as a platform to share how he pets dogs. Amazingly, he became famous for it almost instantly.
Now with over 224 thousand followers, @IvePetThatDog, is owned and managed by Gideon Kidd. It is a go-to-website for any dog lover from all walks of life.
Gideon shared that he started out using the platform as an outlet “to make it known to the whole world” just how much he loves petting dogs. Little did he know that his penchant for petting dogs would make him an instant Twitter celebrity.
I pet Bella. She is a 13 month old F2 Goldendoodle. She is 1/2 Goldendoodle and 1/2 Golden Retriever but her caregiver says Bella is just her little dork. Bella likes to play to get her wiggles out. She loves plastic water bottles. She holds them in her mouth to hear them crinkle pic.twitter.com/0c8836PQjz

From time to time, Gideon posts photos and videos of dogs he has already met. Further, he shares vital information about the dog,. He likes to include the dog’s name, age, breed, talents, and how he found out about the animal.
Of course, since Gideon is a dog lover, his recommendations are always positive. He thinks that all dogs are awesome.
I pet Bostick. He is an 8 year old Labradoodle mix. He is named after Bostick Smoot, a lawyer his caregiver knew growing up. Bostick chases the squirrels. He’s never caught one, but he has hope. He loves fetch and even chews on his Comfy Ball as he falls asleep each night. pic.twitter.com/H92EQswzxA

Gideon has a Twitter page where he posts all things dog-related. Furthermore, he also manages a similar account on Facebook. He also has a website, which is, by the way, moderated by his parents. This is because he is a minor.
I pet Pippin. He is a 19 week old Cardigan Welsh Corgi. Pippin likes to play for 1 hour, then nap for 2. He loves people, he loves other dogs, and he loves sticks. His caregiver says Pippin has helped him meet the neighbors. People talk to him because Pippin is so cute. pic.twitter.com/caRXWRlWU9

This story makes a powerful point. The power of social media is now a force to be reckoned with. It also points out that virtually anyone with the desire to use it can do so successfully. It also shows that if you are a kid who loves to pet dogs, you can influence a huge number of people.
