Lamb Chop is a Maltese from Wisconsin. People magazine named this cute, tiny ball of fur as the 2020 World’s Cutest Rescue Dog. Her story is inspiring, an accurate measure of a dog’s resiliency and determination to live.
This tiny white fluff of fur came from a puppy mill. The veterinarians believe that she gave birth to litter after litter for about six years.
Furthermore, there are indications that Lamb Chop had a traumatic past. The trauma she suffered resulted in her mistrust of humans.
Lamb Chop was taken to the Washington County Humane Society for rehabilitation and rehoming. This is when a veterinarian gave her a full physical examination.
She was found to have rotten teeth, a cauliflower ear, and several tumors. She was adopted by Christin Schubert onceĀ her health problems were resolved.
The only residual indication of Lamb Chop’s traumatic past was her sticking out her tongue every time she opens her mouth.
At first, Lamb Chop was a shy dog, which is normal behavior among dogs from puppy mills. Christin helped Lamb Chop overcome her shyness by enrolling her in classes designed to help regain her trust.
Later on, the cute dog’s natural, underlying personality slowly became obvious. At present, Lamb Chop gets excited every time Christin arrives home. She also enjoys playing with her stuffed toys and eats cheese with gusto.
Christin decided to enter Lamb Chop at People magazine’s World’s Cutest Rescue Dog contest. There were 10,000 entries, and lucky for Lamb Chop, she rose to be the best among all the contestants.
What Lamb Chop Is Doing Now
Currently, Christin and Lamb Chop are working with Bailing Out Benji, an organization that advocates pet adoption. The cause is all also about ending unethical breeding practices.
