Can you imagine the emotional reunion for this Sheriff’s Deputy and his old friend after being separated for some time? It would have been hard for anyone to hear that your long lost pal had been beaten. It would have been even worse because the culprits were his supposed good friends.
The man was so worried and he had wanted to be there for him. This time, though, he couldn’t be there because he had another, bigger, and even more pressing responsibility. Asking a friend to look after his injured pal seemed to be the best thing to do at the time.
When Sheriff’s Deputy Trevor Reeves reunited with his friend, a partially blind Pit Bull named Stevie Wonder, it was quite obvious that he was holding back his tears. The atmosphere was filled with so much emotion that even the dog’s foster parent couldn’t keep from shedding a few tears as well.
Stevie would not be back in Trevor’s arms if he had not been saved from a life-threatening injury when some of his canine pals viciously attacked him.
Looking back….
Stevie Wonder came from a shelter and Trevor’s friend decided to adopt him. For some undefined reason, Trevor and Stevie formed a very strong bond.
Even when they were apart, Trevor would call to ask about his friend’s deteriorating eye condition. When he heard that his good canine buddy had been attacked, he was heartbroken.
Stevie’s situation became worse when the family who adopted him decided to let him go. The terrible incident traumatized the family deeply. They felt they could no longer give him the care he needed.
They loved him enough to acknowledge this fact and to let him go. His injuries required a family who could provide him with the intense level of care he would need to fully recover.
It was hard for them to let him go but they loved Stevie. They realized that it was in his best interest. So, for Stevie’s sake, they forced themselves to let him go.
The Emotional Reunion For This Sheriff’s Deputy
Worried about his friend’s situation, Trevor sought help from Tia of Pit Bulls and Parolees. With their intervention, Sugar Hill, a member of the Villa Lobos Rescue Center, agreed to serve as Stevie’s foster parent.
Sugar helped Stevie to recover from his physical and emotional trauma from the canine-on-canine attack. He also set up the meeting between the two long lost friends, saying it “felt awesome to watch them reunited”.
He quietly sat on a couch close by as he watched Trevor hug Stevie tightly. Both men were obviously quite emotional about the reunion and were very close to tears.

What are other things to be considered if your dog is attacked by another dog?
Most dog owners feel as though their pet is part of the family and have a very strong bond. They do all they can to keep him safe. In all innocence, most of us think everyone else feels the same way about their dog. We expect them to honor the leash laws to keep both them and us safe.
Unfortunately, that is not always the case. Sometimes dog owners allow their pets to run off-leash inappropriately. Occasionally, a dog can escape the leash and, not being trained well, run wild.
Uncontrolled dogs become a problem
Whatever the reason, an aggressive dog uncontrolled by its owner can be very dangerous. They can cause a great deal of damage to property, other animals, and to people as well. Expensive medical bills may become a problem and end up being settled in court. This falls under the small claims category in most places.
Can become a legal problem
If your dog is seriously injured or, worse yet, killed by another dog you need to know a few facts. Although each state has its own laws regarding this topic, these facts generally hold true.
If the leash laws of that area have been broken, the owner of the aggressive dog may be held responsible for all medical and veterinary bills occurred because of the attack. Should a person 0r another dog be injured, their medical bills should be covered by the attacking dog’s owner.
If the dog had already been labeled as dangerous due to prior bad acts and someone’s dog dies from the injuries or has to be euthanized because of them, the owner may be liable for the amount they paid for their dog.
The legal thought is that if they knowingly keep an aggressive or violent animal that they should be responsible for any and all costs.
