Dog Refused To Lose Touch Of Her Foster Mom’s Hand

REGAN LOSES HER MISTRESS AND HER HOME

Regan was taken to a shelter in Lebanon, Tennessee when her owner passed away. Her owner was only in her early 50’s when she passed away so she had made no plans for Regan should something unexpected happen to her. Regan found herself in a new environment filled with strangers. So, she was understandably scared and confused. After all this, it is no wonder that the poor dog refused to lose touch of the human who gave her so much comfort.

It took Kim Mozena Rezac, founder of Goofy Foot Dog Rescue and Animal Rescue Corps’ director of animal welfare, three days to earn the dog’s trust. Kim talked and gave Regan treats whenever she visited the dog. When Regan finally became comfortable with Kim, she started wagging her tail upon seeing her. However, she wouldn’t do this with any of the other staff at the shelter.

REGAN FINDS A FOSTER  MOM AND  THEN DOG REFUSED TO LOSE TOUCH OF HER HAND

Although Kim noted that they have amazing volunteers at the shelter, she decided to foster Regan until she finds her forever family. She hated seeing Regan in the shelter’s kennel when she can freely enjoy her couch at home. When the day came for Regan to go to her foster home, she surprised Kim with an especially sweet and touching action.

Regan held Kim’s hand the entire ride home.  It was a 2.5-hour car ride home and whenever she tried to take her hand away, Regan would paw at it. She wanted them to remain in physical contact all the way home.

You guys…So this girl’s person died and she found herself homeless. She was in our shelter for a couple days and I felt sorry for her so I brought her home. How sweet is she?????#jukinmedia

Kim said that Regan was very nervous and scared at the shelter. When they were about to leave for her foster home,  Regan seemed very grateful. Kim thinks that Regan felt more secure just by touching someone familiar. Regan’s reaction deeply moved Kim so she took a video and posted it online. She hoped it might help the sweet dog find a new home soon.

Thankfully, her plan worked. Two days later, Regan found that new home. Kim is hoping that Regan’s story would touch more people and that they will learn two things from it. First, is to plan and ensure that their pets will be taken care of in case something happens to them. Second is for more people to consider adopting shelter pets.

Have you made provisions for your pet to be cared for should anything happen to you?

Tragedies occur to young people and elderly people eventually die. People of all ages fall ill or become injured and may be unable to care for their pets temporarily or permanently. Not having a plan in place to care for them is irresponsible. If you have not done so already, please give this some thought. They depend upon and trust you to take care of them. Don’t let them down.
