A Classic Canine Scene with a Twist
We all know the image of a dog contentedly gnawing on a bone. It’s a common and delightful sight. Dr. Mark Reynolds, an animal behaviorist, explains, “Dogs share a common ancestor with wolves, who relied on bones for nutrition. Chewing on bones taps into their ancestral instincts.”
Dr. Samantha Davis, a canine dental health specialist, adds, “Chewing on bones helps maintain healthy teeth and gums. It removes plaque buildup, preventing dental issues like periodontal disease.”
Rocky The Dachshund Is A Jet Setter
Rocky isn’t just any dog with a bone. He’s an 11-month-old mini Dachshund with a flair for travel. His owner, Michelle Vach, shares, “We wanted a small pup for traveling. We fell in love with his picture right away.”
Rocky quickly adapted to his new home, bringing joy and activity. He has taken multiple six-hour flights and trips to Germany and Indiana. “He is used to traveling and is really calm,” Vach says.
Quirky Eating Habits and Unique Hiding Spots
Despite his adventurous spirit, Rocky’s eating habits are quirky. “Rocky is a picky eater and only eats when he’s hungry,” Vach explains. “We had to get used to it, but now we know his feeding schedule.”
Rocky’s selectiveness extends to bones. In a video, Vach notes. “They hide their surplus food to eat it later.”
Rocky’s preferred hiding spot is a blanket on the couch. This spot sparked much hilarity on social media. “Best hiding spot,” one user quipped. Another added, “No one will ever find it.”
The “Two-Sided” Personality of Rocky the Dachshund
Rocky’s peculiar behaviors are part of his “two-sided” character. “He has a calm, loving side and a crazy side. At first, we didn’t know why he acted wild, doing things like stealing our clothes and shoes, unrolling the toilet paper, and biting holes in our blankets. Once we figured out what he wanted, we learned how to handle it,” Vach says.
Despite his quirks, Vach cherishes all of Rocky’s eccentricities. She wouldn’t change a thing about her energetic, loving pup, though she admits his bone-hiding skills could use some improvement.
Rocky the Dachshund is a testament to the joy and amusement our furry friends bring. His unique habits and adventurous spirit make him a beloved companion and the subject of many endearing stories.
