The first time that Paul and Brittney saw Ashley was on an ad that was posted online. The couple had always talked about adopting a dog and they immediately fell for the smiling Husky. In no time at all, they were bringing the the dog of their dreams home. What were the odds of this happening so quickly?
Shy Dog
At first, Ashley was very shy and timid. She mostly kept to herself, preferring to stay on her bed. No matter how much the couple called her, she wouldn’t approach them or cuddle with them on the sofa.
They didn’t want to force the dog to build a relationship with them right away so they remained patient. In the meantime, they showered her with love, attention, and treats.
Soon the confused pup started warming up to them. Her sweet and gentle personality started coming out. She became a very affectionate dog that loved to snuggle with them. Ashley was soon insisting on hugs and belly rubs.
Strong Bond
As Brittney was a student then, she would often be away for school matters. So Paul and Ashley spent most of their time together. The two became inseparable and went on many short trips.
They would go to the dog park, take many walks, and would even go out of town to visit Paul’s parents. The two developed a very strong bond.
Soon, the couple adopted more dogs. And when they felt that their home was getting cramped, they bought a new house. And that is when their nightmare started.
Dog Gone
A few days after they moved, Paul and Brittney came home to find that their front door was open. When they checked on their dogs, they found that Ashley was missing. They checked on their security cameras and they saw that the dog sitter accidentally left the door open and the dog slipped out. That was already more than six hours ago.
The couple, with the help of their family and friends, started looking for Ashley. They went around the area and even posted pictures of her. They were relentless in their search. Sometimes, they would receive calls about Ashley but when they checked, it wasn’t her.
After more than a week, they were starting to lose hope. After all, what were the odds of finding Ashley after all they had done to find her?
What Were The Odds Of Finding Ashley 300 Miles Away From Home?
Then two weeks after the dog got loose, Brittney got tagged in an adoption post with a picture that looked just like Ashley. They were shocked as the post said that the dog was 300 miles away. They couldn’t believe it could be her, but the dog really resembled their beloved Ashley.
So the next day, the couple made the drive to be sure. And when they got there, they were overjoyed to see that it was indeed Ashley. They were so grateful to have their beloved Ashley back home again. They said that it never felt complete without her.
