Woman Posts Apology Note To Explain Her Dog’s Howling
Sharla Wilson and her family did not anticipate any problems with their neighbors when they moved into a downtown Pittsburgh apartment. There was one potential problem though. They might object to her dog’s loud howling off and on throughout the day and night. So, the woman apologizes for dog’s howling preemptively.
Her 11-year-old diabetic pug, Charleston Chew, had become almost completely blind. He had been fine in his previous home, but the new surroundings had thrown him for a loop. The poor, blind pug no longer knew where to locate the walls and furniture.
The Reason For The Loud Howling
He quickly became anxious when bumping into the walls and furniture. Anxiety and fear are what led to the dog’s loud howling. It became especially bad when he was left alone in the apartment. As he became more anxious, the louder he would howl. Charleston Chew may be blind but he still has quite a set of lungs!
Sharla expected him to adjust and to calm down sooner rather than later. But, before very long, she began to feel self-conscious about the loud howling coming from her apartment. His whimpering, bumping into walls and, finally, persistent and loud howling would get anyone’s attention.
Both day and night, all the occupants on the same floor as Sharla would hear the sounds emanating from her apartment. What began as light whimpers would gradually grow louder. These whimpers would eventually become blood-curdling wails before evolving into persistent and loud howling.
What Would Her Neighbor’s Think???
Sharla knew that her new neighbors would be wondering what on earth was going on in her apartment? What kind of awful things could they imagine was happening? Did they even realize that there was a canine member of the family? Would they think the sounds were human?
She certainly did not want to cause problems with her neighbors so soon after moving into the apartment complex. So, in an effort to minimize any anger or resentment from her neighbors, she became proactive.
So, Taking the Bull By the Horns, So To Speak
Sharla decided to post a note of apology on her door. The typed apology, complete with photos of Charleston Chew, was written from his point-of-view. His note explained his predicament and apologized if he disturbed them.
One of their neighbors, Megan Jones, quickly noticed the note on Sharla’s door. Megan got such a kick out of the note that she snapped a photo of it. As soon as she posted it to her Twitter account, it instantly went viral. Charleston Chew is now a celebrity, and he has a new friend in Megan!
