You probably want to know why this old man won’t let vet operate on his dog. Right? It’s easy to assume many things about dog owners based on how they treat their dogs. We all do it whether it is a deliberate action or not.
For example, an owner who refuses to allow surgery for their injured dog maybe seen as abusive or selfish. However, this story proves that sometimes owners have a valid reason for doing this.
The dog in this story, Kamsun, lives with an elderly man. Kamsun is old himself and he has one very badly broken leg, so his movements are very awkward. He rarely goes out because of his condition.
The elderly gentleman who owns Kamsun might seem like he doesn’t care. You might think this poor, elderly man simply cannot afford to pay for the amputation that each vet recommended. In spite of having very little money, he took Kamsun to see several vets, hoping one of them could save his leg.
Each of the veterinarians suggested amputation as the best course of action. This action is something with which he strongly disagreed ! He believed that Kamsun’s leg could still be fixed.
An unexpected source of help to save Kamsun’s leg
A Korean television network found out about Kamsun’s situation and generously offered to help. The network shouldered the cost of Kamsun’s medical treatment. They also respected the wish of the owner to find another solution for the dog’s broken leg.
Kamsun’s broken leg was twisted in a direction that would never allow it to regain function. Furthermore, even if surgery were done to reconstruct the broken leg, there’s a low chance of it working again due to the dog’s age. The best that a vet could do was to realign the broken leg and snugly wrap it in place to heal.
Kamsun’s treatment went well, but the help he received didn’t end there. The television network also bought a new place for the elderly man and a doghouse for Kamsun. This was a significant improvement in their living conditions!
Grandpa was very surprised and extremely grateful for the gifts he received. Their neighbors were also happy to see that the elderly man had a better living space. Also of importance, Kamsun can rest well on a comfy couch while recovering from treatment and he still has his leg!
