An eight-year-old boy named Bryson has a one-of-a-kind bond with his furry best friend, Bruce. When Bruce got sick, Bryson willingly sold off his prized collection of Pokémon cards to get his beloved dog treated. He was willing to sacrifice anything to pay the vet bills for the treatment needed to save his dog. bills
Bryson and Bruce
There are a few things kids hold dear to their hearts: their favorite toy, security blanket, a beloved pet, and perhaps, a collection of something very precious to them. Well, Bryson could attest that he loves his dog, Bruce, above all else, and all the other material things don’t even come close.
A recent event proved that Bryson did not even have to think twice about giving up his precious Pokémon cards if it meant saving Bruce’s life.
Bruce is usually a healthy, happy, and playful puppy. But one day, Bryson noticed that Bruce refused to get out of his cage to play. He also looked down and lethargic.
Bryson’s mom, Kimberly, brought Bruce to the vet right away. They found out that Bruce has parvo, a canine virus that’s highly infectious and fatal to dogs. The vet said that the cost of Bruce’s treatment is $700.
Unfortunately, Bryson’s family was not in the position to shell out such an amount right away. The worried boy thought long and hard about how to avail treatment for his dog. He decided to sell his Pokemon cards and use the money to pay for Bruce’s treatment.
Bryson’s sweet gesture to pay vet bills
Bryson did not waste time. He put up a stand and made a sign to advertise his Pokémon cards for sale in their front yard. He did not sell a lot of cards, though. So, his mom decided to post Bryson’s photo on a local Facebook group, hoping that people in their community would stop by and purchase his cards.
Bryson’s mom also started a GoFundMe page for Bruce’s treatment, and it inspired the netizens, especially fellow pet owners. So even if they only needed to raise $800, the page collected over $20,000, thanks to the help and support of so many people.
Bryson was able to reunite Bruce after a week of treatment. The sweet boy decided to use the extra funds to help struggling families pay for their vet bills and donate a portion to local animal shelters.
