It’s always exciting when you’re about to get a new dog, although it might be very daunting at first to get this little bundle of joy. But you can’t automatically get that bond you want from your new puppy. You need a significant amount of time and effort to get that special connection with your dog. And when you do get your dog’s trust, it will be very rewarding. Here are some great ways to bond with your new puppy.

Exercise with Your Dog Together

Dogs require a great amount of exercise for them to grow and develop in a healthy manner. Physical training is really important for your dog’s overall well-being. And more importantly, performing exercise together with your puppy is a very effective way of building trust and a strong bond early on. This will also benefit you greatly. Not only are you getting some exercise that your body needs, exercising with your new dog can be really fun and enjoyable.

A very nice way of getting your dog to exercise with you is by taking daily walks to the local park. This will not only let your dog move his body, it will also let them explore and be more familiar with the new neighborhood in which they now live. All the new amazing sights and smells they will encounter along the way will also give some needed mental stimulation to your new puppy.

You can also engage in other great exercises with your dog like playing fetch or Frisbee. Swimming and jogging can be really great intensive exercises you can do but remember to keep your dog’s safety in mind when performing these exercises.  You not only want your dog to have fun but to eventually trust you as well.

Try Feeding Them With Your Hand

Having a very shy dog can be troublesome but you can start to build your bond with your new fearful puppy by slowly hand feeding them. This activity will greatly increase the trust your dog has in you and will cause your bond to become stronger.

But if you’re having a bit of trouble when trying to hand feed your new pooch, you can also try to simply sit and give them some delicious dog treats.  This method can be an effective manner in which to build that trust between the two of you and will also let your dog know early on that you are the one providing them food.

One of The Great Ways to Bond with Your New Puppy is to Teach Them Basic tricks

If your new puppy isn’t too young, you can start teaching them some simple tricks and commands. This is a very cool way of building that strong bond. But be mindful that if they are still very young, their attention span is extremely short. So, be very patient and you’ll eventually get to build that strong bond. Getting your dog to respond when their name is called is also a good beginning.

You can teach your dog to sit, stay, play dead, rollover, and even extend a handshake. The more tricks and simple commands your dog learns, the stronger your bond will become.
