Looking back, the pair had no idea that the rescue puppy befriended the bossy pony until some time had passed and it was quite obvious to everyone. It all started off as it usually did then a newly rescued animal.
When a woman approached Francesca Carsen and Steve Rother about taking in Spanky, a two–year–old pony, they weren’t sure what to expect. They knew that the miniature equine was aggressive and bossy towards other animals and humans.
The duo runs and manages a ranch where they house several rescue animals. The moment they laid eyes on Spanky, it was clear that he’d be joining them for good.
“The first time we saw him, we saw a tiny horse who was boldly introducing himself as the boss,” said Carsen. “And we were like, ‘ok.’ We agreed.”
Although Spanky still had a few bad habits and is sometimes even a bit hesitant to be around other animals, it all changed when he met the one who has now become his best friend. Dally, the runt among the litter that no one wanted, was adopted by Carsen. From day one, she was mesmerized by Spanky.
Dally was four months old when she first started to keep an eye on Spanky. As Carsen exercised the overweight pony, Dally watched them top of a step stool. Wherever Spanky was, Dally was there.
Spanky, however, was a bit indifferent. He was always sure to be careful around Dally, but he did not precisely return Dally’s fascination with him. That is until Dally decided to make an unexpected move and tried to ride Spanky.
“Standing on the footstep, she hopped onto Spanky’s back. After that, they’ve just become inseparable,” said Carsen. “We noticed Dally was excited. She loves to ride on her pony’s back; she feels important.”
It Is Official: The Rescue Puppy Befriended Bossy Pony
From that point forward, Spanky and Dally have become best pals. They nap on the grass together and chill inside Spanky’s paddock. The pair started unwanted, but now, both have found each other and are always together. Such a sweet story about how a Rescue puppy Befriended Bossy Pony.
This story was too good to keep to themselves. Carsen wrote a book, The Great Adventures of Dally and Spanky. Also, the fun-loving pony and pup also perform at shows and events.
