Not In Any Particular Order, Here Are 6 of the Breeds Known To Be A “Quiet Dog”
(Well….maybe there is a particular order. Can you guess which one?)
-
Basenji.
Many of you will recognize this breed as being known as they “Barkless Dog”. This is really a misnomer as Basenjis are not truly mute. It is rare for them to bark and when they do it may take you by surprise. People have described their bark as sounding much like a yodel! For those of you have never heard anyone yodel it might be hard to imagine. So, here is an example for your edification and listening pleasure.
2. Bernese Mountain Dog.
This lovable and gentle giant breed was initially known throughout Switzwerland as a farmer’s best friend. Bred to help with the farmer’s chores but they quickly won their way into the hearts and lives in urban households as well.
Be aware that they have a strong tendency to pick a family member as their favorite. You may love this if it happens to be you they choose but not so much if it is your sibling or spouse instead of you! You have been warned.
3. Borzoi
Although the American Kennel Club has reportedly admitted that this breed has some cat like tendencies, it is best known as one of the super sprinters of the canine world.
They have been clocked at hitting 40 miles per hour! If your super quiet Borzoi decides to take a sprint you may never catch up with him!
You may want to keep him on a leash when walking thruugh the woods where a small animal may entice him to follow in pursuit!
4. Bulldog, English
Historically, the French and the English have not been thought of as having a lot in common. However, one thing they do have in commom is their love of bulldogs.
Both the English and the French Bulldogs have a penchant for sweet treats and for taking frequent naps. Although not particularly territorial, they often choose a special spot for napping, It is often your sofa.
5. Bulldog, French
No one could be intimidated by this sweet little face. Nonetheless, this is a type of Bulldog! Like his close cousin, the English Bulldog, Frenchies are also happy with the indoor life and enjoy frequent naps and sweet treats. (remember, NO CHOCOLATE!!) A French Bulldog does not require a lot of exercise. However, a brisk walk is as good for him a it is for you so do not forget to invite him along. This is another fairly quiet breed that has a lot of personalit
Last, but not least of the “Quyet Dog” list is the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is one gorgeous breed and certainly has a look of royalty about them. No wonder this breed was selected to star in a well-known TV rom com! Not only beautiful, they have a well-behaved demeanor.
That is not to say they cannot have a playful and, sometimes, even a mischievous streak. However, they enjoy being indoors and rarely yelp or howl. Since they are more likely to be chosen as a lap dog than a protector, this is for the best.
This particular specimen of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel breed is absolutely beautiful and she is known for her fantastic personality. Her “Mama” is a very proud Patty Grider Young who enjoys spoiling her on a daily basis. I can understand why.
