Scared And Hungry Puppy Stuffed Inside A Mailbox

Scared And Hungry Puppy Stuffed Inside A Mailbox

Susan Sloan January 5, 2022

Otilia Gaona from Elberta, Alabama has long had a daily routine that she shared with her dog, Biscuit. They would take a walk around their neighborhood every afternoon. Then afterwards, they would get the mail and go back inside their house. She never dreamt of finding a scared and hungry puppy stuffed inside a mailbox.

But one day, Otilia had a major shock. When she opened her mailbox, she saw two eyes staring back at her. Inside was a small pup, scared and shivering. He immediately started crying with a high-pitched voice.

Unusual delivery

It was really a very hot day, and the temperature inside the metal box was extremely high. There was also barely any air. If Otolia hadn’t found the six-week-old puppy, he most likely would have perished very soon.

She quickly reached in for the puppy and carried him back into her house. She gave him some water and food, which the pup eagerly consumed right away. Otilia could not help but wonder from where the small puppy came.

Occasionally, stray dogs would wander through the front part of her property. However, she never thought that she would find a puppy in her mailbox. Who could be so heartless as to do such an awful thing to a helpless puppy?

After the dog finished eating and started to calm down, Otilia called a local shelter and asked them to help the pup. They sent a rescuer and took the puppy under their care.

Dismayed to know that anyone could stuff a scared and hungry puppy inside a hot mailbox

When interviewed, Otilia said that the incident made her feel incredibly sad. It proved that some people don’t value life at all. Anyone capable of doing such a thing to a poor defenseless puppy, would also be capable of doing the same thing to a human child.

She also said that if you don’t want to take care of a dog, there are many other choices available to you. however, leaving them in a situation where they can suffer or die is not an option.

The abandoned puppy was lucky that Otilia stuck to her routine that day, and that he was found before the heat did any permanent damage.
